103-year-old man marries 99-year-old woman in Paraguay
Jose Riella married Martina Lopez after 80 years together in a religious ceremony that included a white gown, flowers and a fine dress shirt.
After spending many years together, most couples feel the need to make their relationship official through marriage.
This man and wife in Paraguay held out for 80 years before finally deciding to marry one another at 103 and 99 respectively.
Jose Riella married Martina Lopez in a religious ceremony that included a white gown, flowers and a fine dress shirt.
The ceremony was held at the couple's home, 150 miles north of the capital, Asuncion.
They wed before eight of their children, 50 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.
It appears that both were seated during the ceremony.
The priest told them they were the oldest newlyweds he had ever seen.
The couple had a civil wedding 50 years earlier, but had not had a religious ceremony.
Riella now suffers from hearing problems, but still remembers all his children. His newly wedded wife apparently still does all the chores.
Wishing them a blissful union.
