Woman caught with dead day old baby in sack in Lagos

A 40-year old widow named Mujidat was caught yesterday Wednesday October 30th with a dead day old baby she hid inside a sack around her residence at at the Iba area of Lagos, PM News reports.
It was gathered that a member of the community, High Chief Babatunde Balogun caught the mother of seven when she was  trying to dispose the baby at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday. When questioned on the content of the sack, she claimed she was coming from the market where she bought some household items.
However, on a closer look, Balogun discovered that the sack contained a dead day old baby the woman allegedly had just delivered. He then called the attention of the other residents. Neighbours told P.M News that after Mujidat’s husband known as Baba Mushin died about three years ago, they have seen men visiting her residence, the house built by her late husband.
When asked if she planned to throw away the baby because of an alleged paternity mess, she denied, claiming  that a welder turned block maker near her residence was responsible for the pregnancy that resulted in the birth of the dead baby she was caught with.

She claimed she took delivery of the baby by herself because she found it easy and therefore did not go to any hospital or sought anybody’s  help.

At about 9 p.m yesterday when P.M.NEWS visited the area, residents of the area were still milling around the residence of the woman.

Officials of the Community Development Association, CDA, in the area later accompanied the woman and her sack of baby to the Isheri-Oshun Police Division where the matter was reported. At the time of this report, the woman was still being interrogated.

The tribe where big is definitely beautiful: Ethiopian men compete to be the fattest in the village by drinking a gruesome mixture of blood and milk while living in isolation for SIX months

Slim might be in elsewhere but for Ethiopia's Bodi or Me'en people, bigger is always better. The tribe, which lives in a remote corner of Ethiopia's Omo Valley, is home to an unusual ritual which sees young men gorge on cow's blood and milk in a bid to be crowned the fattest man.
Six months after starting the regime, the men emerge to show off their newly engorged physiques and for a winner to be chosen. The champion fat man is then feted as a hero for the rest of his life.
Now the little known rite is the subject of incredible photos taken by French shutterbug Eric Lafforgue - who spent time with the Bodi while travelling through south-western Ethiopia during the run up to the Bodi New Year or Ka'el ceremony.

Hero: Every child wants to become one of the fat men, according to Lafforgue, who are feted as heroes by the rest of the tribe for their incredible feat

Sadly, the Ka'el ritual and the Bodi's traditional way of life is under threat from the Ethiopian government who plan to resettle 300,000 people from all over the country on their lands.
For now, the tribe continue as they always have, and still celebrate Ka'el in traditional style each June.

The contest begins six months before the ceremony. Every family is allowed to present an unmarried man for the challenge, who, after being chosen, retires to his hut and must not move or have sex for the duration.
Food comes in the form of a cow's blood and milk mixture, served regularly to the men by women from the village. 'The cows are sacred to the Bodi tribe so they are not killed,' explains Lafforgue. 'The blood is taken by making a hole in a vein with a spear or an axe, and after that, they close it with clay.'
Because of the scorching temperatures, the men have to drink the two-litre bowl of blood and milk quickly before it coagulates but as Lafforgue reveals, not everyone can handle drinking so much at speed.
'The fat men drink milk and blood all day long,' he says. 'The first bowl of blood is drunk at sunrise. The place is invaded by flies. The man must drink it quickly before it coagulates but some cannot drink everything and vomit it.'
On the day itself, the men cover their bodies with clay and ashes before emerging from their huts for the walk to the spot where the ceremony will take place.

Thanks to the weight gain, many of them find covering the short distance tougher than the weeks spent fattening up. 'Some fat men are so big that they cannot walk anymore,' explains Lafforgue.
'One asked me if he could use my car to go to the ceremony area. Once in the car, he started to drink milk and blood again because he said he wanted to keep trying to be the fattest until the very last moment.'
The ceremony itself involves spending hours walking in a circle around a sacred tree, watched by the other men and helped by the women who ply them with alcohol and wipe away the sweat.
Once the fattest man has been chosen, the ceremony ends with the slaughter of a cow using a huge sacred stone. Village elders will then inspect the stomach and the blood to see whether the future will be a bright one or not.
After the ceremony, the men's lives return to normal and most lose their enormous bellies after a few weeks of eating sparingly. But a few weeks later, the next generation of competitively fat Bodi men will be chosen and the cycle will begin again.
'Becoming a fat man is the dream of every Bodi kid,' says Lafforgue. 'A few weeks [after the ceremony] he will recover a normal stomach but he will remain a hero for life.

A 24-year-old Syrian man set himself on fire near the Colosseum in Rome on Thursday in front of hundreds of horrified tourists, Italian media reported
The man, referred to by the initials B.S in the reports, poured a bottle of lighter fluid over himself before setting himself alight.
The flames were put out by police and the man, who reportedly has a Swedish passport but is originally from Syria, was taken to the Sant'Eugenio hospital in the capital with third-degree burns on his face, chest and arms, the reports said.
It was not clear whether he was one of the hundreds of Syrian asylum seekers who have sought refuge in Italy after crossing the Mediterranean by  boat over the past few months.
Many find themselves trapped in Italy's notoriously slow asylum seeker  system or sleeping rough in the city's slums to avoid detection

Norway town beams light into central square

A town in Norway will next week begin beaming light down into its central square from giant mirrors placed on a surrounding mountainside, bringing winter sun for the first time in its 100-year history.
Rjukan, a town of 3,500 people situated 100 miles west of Oslo, is nestled so deep in a west-facing valley that it is completely cut off from sunlight for six months of the year.

Now its central square will be bathed in a 500 square metre patch of light for as long as the sun shines on the hills above.

"The idea was just to make a place in Rjukan where people will come to have a bit of sun. It's for the pale little children of Rjukan," Martin Andersen, the local artist who campaigned for the project told The Local. "

He said the three heliostats will track the sun to keep light permanently focused on the town.

"It will be strongest in the middle, and will get weaker and weaker out to the edges," said Andersen. "You will have the sensation of sun when you are in the middle. You will feel the heat and you will see shadows."

The project, which has cost about five million kroner ($845,000), was partly paid for by Norsk Hydro, the power generator which established the town in 1905, partly by the local municipality, and partly by Koro, Norway's public art body.

Andersen said that once he began to research the project, he realised it had been proposed as a solution to the town's sunless winters by Sam Eyde, the industrialist who founded Norsk Hydro and also built the town.

The mirrors were tested last Friday, and will begin operating fully after the opening ceremony on October 31st.

"The attention just before its opening is enormous. It spreads everywhere and it's making people happy," Andersen said.

"It's sort of a magical place," he said, explaining why he'd moved to the town from Oslo. "It's a small town in the bottom of a very deep valley. It has a sort of magic atmosphere

'Bling bishop' takes refuge in abbey

Controversial bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst has found sanctuary in a Bavarian monastery after being suspended indefinitely by Pope Francis last week.
The man dubbed “the bling bishop” for spending €31 million on a new headquarters in western Germany has been in the Benedictine abbey in Metten in southeast Bavaria since Wednesday.

The diocese said on Thursday he had "taken part in the community and life of the monastery” and was spending "spiritual days" there.
"The Benedictines are glad to see the Bishop spending a spiritual period of relaxation in Metten," said a diocese spokesman in a statement. "We ask for the understanding that no more explanations will be given, and that you respect the monastery as a special place of peace."
Tebartz-van Elst has reportedly often spent time at the monastery since he started teaching pastoral theology and liturgical science at the nearby University of Passau in 2002.
Pope Francis ordered Tebartz-van Elst to take a leave of absence last week after the bishop attracted a storm of controversy over the extravagant renovations on his Limburg diocesan headquarters, as well as allegations of dictatorial leadership.
The council of German bishops has commissioned an investigation into the building costs of the headquarters, which currently stand at €31 million.
Tebartz-van Elst's duties as Bishop of Limburg were temporarily taken over this week by vicar general Wolfgang Rösch, the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported.
It is not yet clear how long the beleaguered bishop will remain in Metten

Bigotry against curvy women 'as bad as racism'

Bigotry against curvy women 'as bad as racism'

When fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld blamed France’s healthcare deficit on "fat people" this month, it was the final straw for French activist Betty Aubrière. She tells us why her group is suing Lagerfeld, and how bigotry against curvy women is as bad as racism and homophobia.
In a TV broadcast earlier this month, Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld blamed the deficit in France’s healthcare system on “all the diseases caught by people who are too fat,” and repeated his view that “nobody wants to see curvy women on the catwalk.”
A group representing curvy French women,“Belle, ronde, sexy et je m’assume” (Beautiful, curvy, sexy and ok with it) reacted angrily and announced this week it was suing him for defamation and discrimination.
The group’s president, Betty Aubrière, tells The Local why France must change its law to recognize that prejudice against curvy women is as serious as racism, homophobia and anti-Semitism.

What Karl Lagerfeld said is disgraceful. In front of millions of people, on TV, he insulted fat people and especially curvy and full-figured women.
If he had attacked gay people or black people in the same way, would it have been acceptable for the three women on the panel that evening, who said nothing to intervene after his comments? Of course not.
But the effects of discrimination and insults like that are very serious. There would have been many young girls in France watching [TV channel] D8 that night, and many of them already don’t feel comfortable in their own skin.
And we see the consequences of public figures like Lagerfeld saying what he said, when we hear about young girls who have had to leave school because they were being bullied about their weight.
Insults and discrimination like this contribute to anorexia, which is a serious problem in France.
People like Karl Lagerfeld are seen as authority figures. They benefit a lot from their status and their fame, and we want an end to insults from figures like him, against larger men and women.
France needs to realise that prejudice against full-figured women is as bad as racism or homophobia or anti-Semitism, and we need a change in the law which makes statements like Karl Lagerfeld’s punishable as incitement to hatred.
We also need to get rid of the myth that being bigger is always a choice, and that it’s just down to bad diet. It’s not. In many cases it’s a disease, and for some people it’s genetically inherited.
Lagerfeld’s comments about “curvy women on catwalks” also raised an important point about beauty.
Something that would give young girls more confidence and feelings of security about their bodies would be if the world of fashion, which has always been so important in France, acknowledged the fact that full-figured women can be beautiful, too.
We need more curvy models, and we need couturiers like Karl Lagerfeld to design clothes that can be worn by women of all sizes.
A major problem is that it’s often just too much hassle for curvy women to find clothes and outfits that make them feel pretty, or if they do, they can be far too expensive.
France needs a cultural change, and the fashion world could play a leading role in that.

Norway world's most prosperous country

Norway world's most prosperous country
The Legatum Institute in London

Norway has been ranked the world's most prosperous country for the fifth year in a row by the Legatum Prosperity Index, increasing its lead on Switzerland in the number two position.
The country leapt five places in the index's Entrepreneurship and Opportunity category, after it saw rapid development in internet bandwidth and per capita mobile phone ownership. But it saw a worsening performance in the safety and security category, dropping four places to sixth place.

"Since the inaugural Legatum Prosperity Index, the world has seen a continuous increase in prosperity with citizens in many countries experiencing improving wealth and wellbeing," Jeffrey Gedmin, President and CEO of the Legatum Institute said. “But we cannot afford to be complacent. Issues of war, governance and personal  freedom continue to dog the Middle East and parts of Africa. Leading nations are not exempt."

Switzerland, was followed by Canada, Sweden, New Zealand, and Denmark in third, fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.

The list of 142 countries are ranked a combination of factors, including countries' economies, the public sector, entrepreneurship, health, safety, personal freedom and social capital.

Both the UK and the US saw their performance decline, with the former dropping two places to 16th place, and the  latter dropping four places to 11th place.

Legatum Prosperity Index™: Global prosperity rising while US and UK economies decline

  • 2013 Legatum Prosperity Index™: Global prosperity rising while US and UK economies decline

    - Norway leads world in 2013, as global prosperity continues to rise.
    - US & UK suffer falling economic performance.
    - Legatum Institute reveals its ‘20:20 Vision’ of countries it predicts will rise up the prosperity rankings.
The latest Legatum Prosperity Index™, which ranks nations according to extensive wealth and wellbeing factors, reveals that global prosperity has risen over the past five years, largely due to improvements in entrepreneurship, health and education.
Norway leads the overall rankings for the fifth year and is joined in the top ten by Switzerland (2nd), Canada (3rd), Sweden (4th), New Zealand (5th) and Denmark (6th).
The US (11th) and UK (16th) are both facing economic decline, dropping four and two places respectively for their performance in this sub-index1. The UK has also dropped three places in the overall prosperity rankings since last year.
Now in its seventh year, the Legatum Prosperity Index™ is a unique and robust assessment of global wealth and wellbeing, which benchmarks 142 countries around the world in eight distinct sub-indices: Economy; Education; Entrepreneurship & Opportunity; Governance; Health; Personal Freedom; Safety & Security; and Social Capital.
Jeffrey Gedmin, President and CEO of the Legatum Institute, said: “Since the inaugural Legatum Prosperity Index™, the world has seen a continuous increase in prosperity with citizens in many countries experiencing improving wealth and wellbeing.
“But we cannot afford to be complacent. Issues of war, governance and personal freedom continue to dog the Middle East and parts of Africa. Leading nations are not exempt, with the US and UK experiencing poor performance in the rankings in recent years.”
    20:20 Vision
To mark the progress made in prosperity across the globe since the launch of the Index, the Legatum Institute is highlighting twenty countries that are predicted to move up the rankings by 2020 if they continue on their current path. This ‘20:20 Vision’ is made up of nations that are regional or sub-index leaders.
Included on this list are Bangladesh, which has improved in seven sub-indices, and Kazakhstan, which has risen seven places to 47th in the overall rankings since 2009.
Trinidad & Tobago and Slovakia are also listed, having experienced increases in prosperity and strong economic growth, as well as taking positive strides to overcome national challenges.
For the full ‘20:20 Vision’ list, please visit www.prosperity.com/#/media/
The Americas: Latin America on the up and up as US declines
On average, Latin America has seen a rise in seven sub-indices since 2009, translating into a rise in overall prosperity for the sub-region. Paraguay (68th), Trinidad & Tobago (42th) and Bolivia (86th) show the biggest improvements, while Uruguay (30th) leads Latin America for overall prosperity.
Canada (3rd) leads the rankings for the region, while the US (11th) remains outside the top ten.
Middle East, North Africa & Sub-Saharan Africa: Poor governance holds back prosperity
Falling Governance scores and challenges to Personal Freedom are limiting prosperity in a significant number of countries in MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Unsurprisingly, Syria (122th) and Egypt (108th) have fallen down the rankings and elsewhere even the highest-ranking Sub-Saharan African nations – Botswana (72nd), South Africa (77nd) and Namibia (93nd) – have all declined.
Asia Pacific: Economic strength turbo-charges prosperity
Improvements in the Economy sub-index have helped to drive overall improvements in prosperity in Asia, with China (51st), Thailand (53rd), Malaysia (44th) and Sri Lanka (60th) all experiencing a rise.
Elsewhere, India (106th) has declined overall – overtaken for the first time in 2013 by Bangladesh (103rd). Pakistan remains low in the rankings (132nd) with progress hampered by security-related challenges.
Europe: Two-speed trend continues with ex-communist nations spurred by strong growth in prosperity
Germany (14th) has recorded the highest increase in overall prosperity in Europe since 2009 – bypassing the UK (16th), which has declined by three places overall.
The majority of European countries are becoming more prosperous, with ex-communist nations Slovenia (24th), Czech Republic (29th), Estonia (36th) and Slovakia (38th) all experiencing significant increases in prosperity.

The mother of Norwegian killer Anders Breivik wanted to make a speech on the first anniversary of her son's massacre, but was too frightened that she would be shot, an unauthorised biography released on Thursday claims.
According to the book, titled The Mother,  Wenche Behring Breivik wanted to mount a soapbox in central Oslo.

"Dear countrymen!" she wrote in the speech she prepared for the day. "The one who caused this tragedy also struck me."

Breivik's mother read a draft of the speech to the book's author Marit Christensen when they spoke on the first anniversary of the killing in July 2012.

According to the book, Wenche Behring Breivik planned to say that she wished her son had died during his twin attacks. Then the only contact she would have had to have with him would have been at his grave.

"Now I have to think about how he's doing. It's worse! His punishment is also my punishment," she wrote.  "I has been awful sad and I have cried a lot."

Christensen's publishers Aschehoug on Wednesday announced that they were bringing forward the book's publication by two weeks, catching out Wenche Behring Brievik's lawyers, who were planning to launch legal action to block the book.

Yesterday it emerged that Åsne Seierstad, the Norwegian journalist who wrote the Bookseller of Kabul, also spoke to Breivik's mother, interviewing her in the hospital where she was being treated in the days before she died.

Seierstad's interview has generated a new controversy, as Christensen claims that she broke into the hospital unannounced and forced the dying woman to give an interview.

Seierstad's publisher Erling Kagge on Wednesday condemned the accusations as "completely incorrect" in a letter written to Aschehoug's directors.

"The meeting was an agreed interview, which lasted an entire afternoon. The interview ended with Wenche Behring Breivik and Seierstad agreed to meet again, something that could not be accomplished because of Wenche Behring Breivik's health," he wrote.

It was important to hear Wenche Behring Breivik's story about her son's childhood, adolescence and especially the time after he moved home," Seierstad said. "I requested an interview through her lawyer Ragnhild Torgersen.

One of Wenche Behring Breivik's last wishes was to stop Christensen's book, after she lost faith in the journalist, and began to suspect her intentions.

Poor woman.... she is at least resting from it all now.

Ashton, Demi Divorce SETTLED NO SPOUSAL SUPPORT

1031-demi-ashton-tmz
Ashton Kutcher
and Demi Moore have settled their protracted divorce beef ... and sources connected to Demi concede ... she will NOT be getting any spousal support from her soon-to-be-ex.

The divorce is being handled by various lawyers, coast-to-coast.  Our New York sources tell TMZ ... Demi tried to get spousal support on grounds Ashton cheated on her.  She finally realized, IT DOESN'T MATTER.  The divorce is in California -- a no fault state -- and even if your husband bangs another chick, it doesn't entitle you to spousal support.  So our Demi sources say she finally backed off.

As for the division of property ... we're told Ashton was "a little more generous than he had to be," but they basically split the stuff they acquired during the marriage.  Demi didn't do nearly as well as she did when she divorced Bruce Willis.  Fact is ... Ashton had just started his gig on "Two and a Half Men" when they separated, and he wasn't making the big bucks he's pulling in now.

FYI ... our sources say aside from cheating, she was pissed because she felt Ashton was hiding some of his tech businesses from her and she wanted a piece.  In the end, we're told they are both satisfied with the settlement.

Cellphone Stops Bullet.

- A convenience store clerk in Florida can thank his cellphone for stopping a bullet fired at his chest during an attempted robbery, police said on Tuesday.
"He was very lucky," said Lieutenant Scott Allen of the Winter Garden Police Department. The middle-aged clerk, who police are not identifying for his safety, was shot at by a robber who ordered him and a female clerk to open the safe at a gas station and convenience store near Orlando, Florida, on Monday. "He (the clerk) was not able to open the safe," Allen said. "The suspect went to leave, he pointed the revolver at one of the clerks and fired a single shot as he was leaving the store." The clerk's cellphone was in the breast pocket of his baggy shirt. "When it first happened, he checked himself to see if he was shot. He didn't see anything," Allen said. "Sometime later after the police were on the scene, he mentioned he had a little bit of chest pain. So they started looking into it and realized his cellphone had been shot." The man did not suffer any injuries, Allen said. The bullet remained lodged in the phone. Police suspect it came from a .22 or .25 caliber handgun, he said.

Yang Hu Cuts Off Penis Then Forgets To Bring It To Hospital (WARNING: GRAPHIC PHOTO)

A man in Jiaxing, China, was supposedly so depressed by his lacking love life that in a moment of desperation, he cut off his penis, the Mirror reported.
Shortly after his amateur amputation, 26-year-old Yang Hu had second thoughts and quickly got to a hospital in hopes of getting his sex organ reattached. Actually "quickly" is the wrong word since he went to the hospital by riding his bicycle. To make matters worse -- as if that's possible -- he actually forgot to bring his chopped-off penis with him, requiring him to ride his bike back to the home, the Daily Star reported. When he returned with his dismembered organ, the doctors gave him some bad news: Because Yang's penis had been without blood for too long, it would be impossible to reattach, HuffPost UK reported. As grotesque as Yang's self-inflicted injuries may be, penis manglings are surprisingly common. In September, Gentil Ramirez, of Gigante, Colombia, took so much Viagra (the erectile dysfunction medication) that he ended up needing surgery on his penis, which was inflamed, fractured, and infected with gangrene. While multiple media outlets initially reported that the 66-year-old's penis was amputated, Ramirez told reporters that his manhood is still intact. In June, police in Ypslanti, Mich., found a naked man who was bloody after ripping off a part of his penis during a drug-fueled craze. In April, jurors in Orange County, California, found Catherine Kieu guilty of torture and aggravated mayhem for a July 2011 attack on her estranged husband where she cut off his penis and tossed it in the garbage. Woman allegedly attacked fiance with knife, mashed potatoes

Police in Florida said they arrested a woman accused of attacking her fiance with a fillet knife and hot mashed potatoes. Sebastian police said they responded to an address in the city Oct. 13 on a report of a domestic incident and the fiance of Kimberly Francisco, 42, told officers the couple had been arguing and Francisco allegedly "began throwing hot mashed potatoes and gravy at him, "
Wednesday. The fiance said Francisco then retrieved a fillet knife and attempted to stab him. "Upon check of the residence, I noticed food, to include mashed potatoes, appeared to be thrown around the kitchen area," the police arrest affidavit stated. Francisco told police she did not throw the potatoes, they fell on the floor. She said her fiance made up the story about the attempted stabbing. Francisco was arrested on a charge of felony aggravated assault with deadly weapon.

World's tallest man gets married in Turkey

Sultan Kosen, the world's tallest man, married a Syrian woman over 2-feet shorter than he is on Saturday. At 5 feet 8 inches, Kosen's wife Mervi Dibo, 20, is not a short lady, but standing next to her 8-foot-3-inch husband she hardly reaches his waist.
"How unfortunate I could not find a suitable girl of my own size. My fiancée is over 1.75 meters tall, but I believe I've found the person for me," he said.
Born in southeastern Turkey, Kosen, 31, rose to fame in September 2009 after Guinness World Records declared him the tallest man in the world. His growth is a result of a tumor that affects his pituitary gland. Besides his record height, Kosen also holds the Guinness record for his nearly 9-inch-wide hands and feet that are over 14 inches long.

Mother posts message to thief who took son's pumpkin

A mother in the U.S. capital posted a message outside her home addressed to the thief who stole her 2-year-old son's pumpkin. Becky Reina said her family carved four Halloween pumpkins, including one for 2-year-old Tommy, and the toddler's pumpkin turned up missing from outside their home last week, WTOP-TV, Washington, reported Tuesday. "To the person who stole my son's pumpkin: Thank you for the life lesson. This will help teach him that sometimes people are mean for no reason, and you have to just brush it off. Because my son is 2 years old and cannot read the sign, I will add, you are an [expletive]," Reina wrote on a poster board she put outside the home. Reina said pumpkins in the area are often stolen and smashed, but Tommy's pumpkin was the only one of the four outside her home to be targeted. She said the pumpkin was likely among those found destroyed by neighbors.

The embattled Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah and President Goodluck Jonathan
The embattled Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah, has been linked to another car purchase scandal. This time, Oduah is said to have also approved the procurement of two Lexus Limousine cars and two Toyota Prado jeeps. The minister is expected to appear before the House Committee on Aviation which is investigating the purchase of two BMW bulletproof cars for her by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority at N255m. But during the sitting by the Senate Committee on Aviation which is probing the crisis in the Aviation industry, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria , Mr. George Uriesi, said the Lexus Limousine cars and Toyota Prado jeeps were in the custody of a bank. Uriesi, who said the limousines were bought for N60m each , added that he did not have details of the cost of the Prado jeeps. He explained that the bank whose name he did not give, funded the purchase of the four vehicles. The FAAN chief told the six-member committee that while Oduah gave the approval, somebody whose name he failed to mention, signed on his (Uriesi) behalf. An obviously enraged Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, Mr. Hope Uzodinma, lambasted him for receiving approval from the minister instead of the Federal Executive Council. He was therefore ordered to appear again before the committee on Monday with details of the transactions. Uriesi, who was said to have sweated in the air-conditioned room while the session lasted, was also asked to bring along with him, details of other vehicles bought for the agency’s directors. The Senate panel also resolved to inspect the N255m bulletproof cars parked at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Meanwhile, members of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation are set to quiz Oduah on Wednesday(today) over the controversial bulletproof cars. The minister, who was summoned by the committee to appear before it on Tuesday, had written , explaining that she had travelled to Israel to sign the Bilateral Air Service Agreement between Nigeria and Israel. On Monday, the committee headed by Mrs. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, said Oduah would now appear on Wednesday and not Tuesday as ealier scheduled. It claimed that the decision was to give all stakeholders the opportunity to prepare their documents. But the committee warned that it would not hesitate to take necessary actions against Oduah if she failed to turn up today (Wednesday). As of 10pm on Tuesday, it was unclear if Oduah, who was on Monday accused by the House Committee on Public Procurement of shunning similar invitations 12 times, had returned from Israel. As part of its preparations for the hearing, a five-member sub-committee of the Onyejeocha-led Aviation panel on Tuesday discreetly inspected the controversial bulletproof cars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. A source privy to the visit, informed The PUNCH that the aim was to “truly establish that the cars were bought.” The source added, “This is an investigation and you do not leave anything to chance. “The idea of the inspection team was to go to the location and physically see the cars. “All these will form part of the final report to the House.” When contacted, Onyejeocha confirmed that a team visited the airport to inspect the cars. She, however, parried questions on the details of what the team saw. The committee chairman said, “Yes, it is true that we set up a committee to go and inspect the cars. “The committee went to the airport but they have not reported back to us. “If you are interested, come to the hearing tomorrow, please, PUNCH.” A senior official of the NCAA, who accompanied the sub-committee to the airport said the lawmakers “saw the two bulletproof cars .” The source added, “They were satisfied. Some of them even stated that people were beginning to insinuate that there were no cars. So, I think people can now ask the House members whether there are cars or not.” Asked if the committee members were also shown the limousines parked at the Total Radar Coverage of Nigeria site at the airport, the official said, “I don’t like joining issues, because people are beginning to write what they like. “The cars we are talking about here are the bulletproof cars and not limousines.” The House spokesman, Zakari Mohammed, said sanctions that could be imposed on Oduah if she failed to appear before the Aviation committee included issuing a bench warrant to facilitate her arrest. He said, “What the committee will do is to apply to the Speaker (Mr. Aminu Tambuwal) for a bench warrant to be issued for her arrest. “Once that is done and the speaker approves it, the Inspector-General of Police will be directed to arrest her and bring her before the committee.” More Stories in News. Man Drugs Wife For 3-Day Marathon Sex In Lagos.

A nursing mother, Mrs Glory Ojuala, has narrated how her husband, Alex Ojuala, drugged her for three days in order to have sex with her a few days after she was delivered of a baby at her matrimonial home in Lagos State.
According to PMNews, the mother of three children made the shocking revelation at Ejigbo Customary Court in Lagos State on Monday while testifying before the court following a petition she filed before the court for dissolution of their 15-year marriage. The 30-year old housewife claimed that two days after she gave birth to their child, her husband started pestering her for sex in the presence of her mother, who was on a visit. Glory told the court that she denied her husband sex because she was still recovering from the pangs of childbirth and was breast feeding, but he accused her of having extramarital affairs and cut the family’s daily feeding allowance to N100 to punish her. Glory alleged that she did not know that her husband had an ulterior motive when he gave her a soft drink while she was eating on the day her husband drugged her. The nursing mother alleged that after she took the soft drink, she couldn’t explain what happened afterwards until she was revived in a hosptial three days later. She said that she later knew that her husband drugged her to have sex with her when he confessed that he did so because she was denying him sex and was sleeping with other men. She told the court that after the incident she moved out of his house and since then they have been living separately, while her husband abandoned their children for her to take care of them alone. The embittered woman had petitioned the court seeking for the dissolution of their 15-year marriage on the grounds that her husband was threatening her life, did not take care of her and their children and beat her, adding that she does not love him anymore. Glory asked the court to compel Alex to take care of their children by providing for their upkeep and education. In response, Alex denied all the allegations made against him and said he had been taking care of his family until trouble started. Alex said he used to give his wife N200 daily before leaving for work and wondered how she would claim that he did not take care of her and their children. He also said that he was no longer interested in the relationship and asked the court to dissolve the marriage, though he promised to provide N10,000 for the upkeep and education of the children. The president of the court, Mr T. A. Eko, queried Alex for abandoning the responsibility of the training their children for his estranged wife to shoulder and asked him to have a change of heart for the interest of the children. The matter was adjourned till March 2014.

14 year old boy rapes 9 year old girl to death in Ikorodu

Unbelievable sad story of how a teenage boy raped a 9yr old girl to death in the Ikorodu area of Lagos
From Punch The police in Lagos State have commenced investigation into how a nine-year-old girl died, after sustaining injuries caused by alleged consistent rape. According to police authorities, the deceased was raped over five times, by a 14-year-old student, Onyi Adimabua, in the Ikorodu area of the state. The father of the deceased, Simeon Jigo, told Punch Metro that Onyi is the son of the proprietor of the school his daughter attended. He said his daughter opened up about the rape when she started having medical problems. The 77-year-old man said his daughter died on October 3, 2013. He said, “Up until my daughter’s death, she was a pupil of Fulfilled Greenland School, Ikorodu, and she was in primary three. One day, she came home and started complaining of pains around her vagina, stomach area. We rushed her to Ikorodu General Hospital. “A doctor checked her and after conducting some tests on her, told us that my daughter had sustained medical complications due to forced sexual intercourse. I was alarmed by this; so, I had a private discussion with my daughter. “She told me that it was her school proprietor’s son, Onyi, that had been raping her. The boy had threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone about it.” The indigene of Ondo State told PUNCH Metro that after initial treatments, he took his daughter to Arogbo in Ondo State to be taken care of but her condition continued to deteriorate. A few days after the troubled father travelled to Ondo State, Onyi, accompanied by his parents, also travelled to Ondo State, to apologise to Jigo’s family. The girl, however, was said to have died that very day. “On getting to the house where my daughter was, we discovered that she was dead. Onyi confessed that he had been raping my daughter prior to her death,’ Jigo said. PUNCH Metro learnt that after the girl’s demise, irate youths in the area attempted to lynch the 14-year-old boy. The bereaved father was said to have intervened and reported the matter to a nearby police station, where the teenager was held for safe keeping. The next morning, Onyi and his parents travelled back to Lagos. The alleged rapist’s parents, in company with a chief in Ikorodu, reportedly visited Jigo when he returned to Lagos. The group were said to have pleaded that the bereaved father should not pursue the case but he refused. Jigo said, “I went to the Ikorodu Police station to report the case but was surprised when the policemen on duty said I should not write any statement. They only told me to write down my telephone number and said they would call me later. “After waiting for many days without any call, I wrote a petition and the matter was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.” It was however learnt that Onyi had been taken to his father’s hometown in Delta State thereby stalling police investigation. The teenager’s parents, however described the incident as the handiwork of the devil. The 14-year-old boy’s father, Andrew Adimabua, said, “I trained that boy in the way of the Lord and expected so much from him. He has confessed to the act; there is nothing to hide. He told me that he learnt about sex by watching blue (pornographic) films. “We are not hiding him and we will cooperate with the police. On the day the little girl died, he was beaten up and made to stay in the rain for hours. As a result, he contracted pneumonia so we sent him home for treatment. When he recovers, he’ll be taken to the police for questioning.” Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, expressed shock at the development. Braide said Onyi would be re-arrested in the course of investigation. “It is appalling that a teenager could indulge in such act. The matter is under investigation and the culprit will be re-arrested.”

Enugu State Gov Sullivan Chime Places Wife Under House Arrest , She Cries Out For Help!

Clara Chime, the First Lady of Enugu State, is at the moment crying out for assistance to reach human rights bodies to come to her rescue as her husband, Governor Sullivan Chime, has placed her under house arrest!

In a letter dripping with pain and suffering which was sent to SaharaReporters, Mrs. Chime disclosed that she married Mr. Chime in October 2008 but that she has been unable to share the matrimonial
bed with him for over four years.

Describing her desperate situation, Mrs Clara Chime said that even President Goodluck Jonathan and First Lady Patience Jonathan have intervened with her husband without success.
“My father is late, my Mum and few of my siblings are confused and have done all kinds of prayers they know of, 3 of my siblings prefers me dead than to see me leave the Government house.  He treats my mum and my siblings bad,” she wrote.
The Enugu State First Lady said she has been introduced to two psychiatrists whose names she gave as Dr. Onwukwe and Dr. Agumo, who have prescribed “all kinds of drugs that ends up keeping me acute depressed and also drives me into hallucinations.”

The doctors, she noted, are scared of her husband the Governor, to whom nobody can tell the truth.

According to the letter, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu State (Callistus Onaga), and top priests have come to intervene, as have the President and the First Lady of the nation, without success.

Mrs. Chime further complains that Governor Chime has ordered her to leave with her four-year old son whom she conceived before their wedding.
However, the governor, according to her, later threatened to disown the boy should she leave with him.
“He has told everyone he can reach that there is no marriage between us that I can leave if I wish to but whenever I plan to leave, he instructs them to lock me in.
I have told him through sms that I will leave my son behind and leave alone but still he instructed his securities to lock me inside the house.”
Mrs. Chime further complains she has lost touch with the real world and all that makes her beautiful because of the side effects of the drugs she is taking, stressing that she is under house arrest for committing no crime.

Of the situation in Government House, she said in the letter:
“He does not take care of me personally, the government gives me allowance to run the house and that's where I save little from to take care of my self, my mum and few of my siblings.
He shut me out of his life years ago; I don't have access to his apartment. The problem is enormous; I don't know where to start to explain from.”
She said that even the security detail in the lodge has resorted to praying for her, while the few that can be bought with money are taking advantage of the situation.
Mrs Chime said, begging:
Police and SS men have been instructed by Sullivan Chime to confine me in a place for a long time now against my wish [but] it is my wish to leave these premises. Please assist me to reach to the human rights and say to them to please come hastily and release me
